Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer is a member of our Learning Solutions team, which strives to turn complex knowledge into engaging and retainable learning resources, integrating innovative technologies into our workflow and welcoming every opportunity to teach and help our clients and teammates. The successful candidate will be an independent problem solver with experience designing, developing, and measuring innovative learning solutions and leading stakeholders and subject matter experts through design projects.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Design and Technical Skills
    • Create engaging learning activities an interactive content for online, virtual, and in-person technical software training using instructional design tools (Captivate, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.)
    • Create learning objectives and create content that appropriately meets the objectives
    • Visualize instructional media from inception to the finished product
    • Apply trends and best practices from instructional design and technology research
    • Develop exercises and assessments that enhance the learning process
    • Support the design of the user experience for new technology and assist in the enhancement of user experience for existing technology 
    • Upload courses into the LMS and run basic reports to collect learning data
  • Communication and Project Management 
    • Collaborate and consult with subject matter experts throughout the design process to identify learners' needs
    • Communicate ideas and creative concepts to teammates and stakeholders
    • Manage projects and project materials
    • Manage time and resources to meet deadlines
  • Facilitation
    • Facilitate engaging virtual training sessions with teammates and external clients

Required Qualifications:

  • College degree in instructional design, educational technology, education or similar field OR
  • Previous working experience in instructional design for 2-3 years
  • Experience with tools used to create learning experiences (Captivate, Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, etc.)
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Experience creating responsive learning solutions for mobile and other devices 
  • In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
  • Curriculum and lesson planning skills
  • Ability to work independently and to prioritize work in a complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements
  • Experience writing exercises and assessments
  • Experience conducting needs assessment and collecting learning metrics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in instructional design, educational technology, education or similar field OR
  • Instructional design certification from accredited college
  • Experience teaching software or technical skills
  • Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge
